Heading to Newcastle over Easter and wondering if there are any not too expensive eateries you would recommend to go to with kids. Bring your own would be a bonus too ;-)

The Galley Chip Shop in Annalong has the best fish in county down. Their frys are massive too. Sit in also.

Fish, crab, etc comes fresh off the boat in kilkeel when in season. I know the people who own it.

you could do, or you could take it home aand eat it as your leisure. I've known people who wouldn't be fond of crab actually end up craving the tubs they sell

Have to agree, the galley in Annalong does great chips. vanilla in Newcastle is really good too. It is more expensive in the evening but they do a fab early bird menu and have specials on throughout the day. For coffee and cake, you can't beat Cafe Creme.

Thanks for replies - why is that holidays revolve around eating :)
But then we will do loads of walking while we are there - Castlewellan, Tullymore and hopefully attempt part of Slieve Donard!

  • villa vinci is excellent, and the harbour inn has been done up and food and atmosphere very good. john macs chippy is good for chips, they are yummy but i dont think much about anything else there.
second the cafe creme for coffee and cake, fry is also really good and 1 would do between 2!
have a great break, love newcastle
