Hi,
Just after some more advice please. I have been living with my partner for a few years in her house which she has a mortgage on. We now want to put my name on the mortgage and pay it off jointly. I understand she needs to do a "transfer of equity". Her current mortgage is due to end at the end of April with santander but we are wanting to continue with them. How do we go about adding my name to the mortgage? I presume i will have to have to have checks carried out on myself. I take it we need to sort this before going through the "transfer of equity" bit?
I guess we just need to speak to Santander first?
Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks!

You are right it is a transfer of equity, effectively you will need to reapply with them, cost will be about £150 + legals, why not combine it with a remortgage elsewhere for a better deal, that way a lot of the cost will be met by the new lender, and you could get a better deal as well?I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
