Debt Collector offering discount BUT...

Hi,
CRS are chasing me for a debt that I apparently owe to Hastings Direct for insurance.
I phoned them once but the person I spoke to was so rude, spoke to me like I was something she stepped in and tried to force me into a payment plan I couldnt afford so I ended the call.
Since then I have sent them letters offering a payment plan and letters asking them to stop calling me and sending me text messages and to respond in writing to my correspondance address only. However, they ignore my letters and constantly send me text messages that just tell me to call them on an 0845 number.
I am going to report them to the OFT and whoever else I can, but the text today says that the client are offering a discount and today is the last day they are offering it. Should I call them to get the discount or is this just a scheme to get me to call them and should I continue to just ignore them until they respond in writing as I have asked and tell me whether they accept my payment plan or not?
Help much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
Ignore any discounts:
1. Unless it is a full and final, they will just take what you pay and then chase up the rest, or sell it and let the new DCa chase the rest.
2. If this is nearly statute barred, you will affect your legal rights. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
