Changing Direct Debit Dates

Options
Morning All,

I am quite new on here and am not sure this is quite the right board to post on - but here goes.

I am starting a new job next month. Currently my pay date is the 25th of each month but in the new job it will be the last working day of each month.

At present I have pretty much all of my direct debits coming out between 25th and 28th of each month. Now obviously with the change in pay date I will not have enough to cover these direct debits in the first month, and to be honest I prefer everything to come out as soon as possible after I have been paid so that I know what I have left etc....

I was wondering if any of you lovely lot knew how flexible the following are on moving the dates of their direct debits:
  • BT
  • Scottish Power
  • Sky
  • Yorkshire Water
Also, I am sure my council tax is currently arranged to be taken on the 1st of each month but they apply for it on the 28th of each month. If this happened before I got paid would this bounce/cause a charge even though it is set to be taken on the 1st?

I want to make sure that I am prepared and dont end up in arrears with anybody because I am trying to sooo hard to get the straight and narrow!!

Thanks in advance.

K:D

Just ring them up & explain your change of circumstances.
In my experience most companies are very helpful as they want to keep your payments coming in on a regular basis.

I've only ever come across one company who wouldn't alter their dates - so as the other say, just ring them all!

just remember if its for a telephone company, moving a direct debit date, will also mean a greater bill on the first changed payment date, I didnt realise this and got a bloody shock n a half when i realised that my virgin bill, was another half a month on top!

    Hi KS2008,

ScottishPower certainly won't have any poblem changing the date you pay your Direct Debit. Just make sure you give us 5 days notice minimum.

    Kind Regards
