Star costume for 4 year old?

My daughter found out today that she has a week to produce a star costume for her 4 year old daughter for the nursery nativity play.

She can do basic sewing, but also has a currently rather poorly 2 and a half year old, so I was wondering about using hologram paper. I've asked her to find out how robust it will have to be.

I haven't got a clear mental picture of what a star costume should look like, so I've come to the experts. Any ideas would be really helpful...thanks.

    Hi

When I was little my mum made me a star costume. She got a large carboard box from the supermarket and cut it into 2 6 point stars, she then stuck silverfoil over one side of each star. She then made them into a kind of sandwich board with string so they hung over my shoulders. I think I wore a white t-shirt and thick white tights underneath.

  • A halo of silver tinsel??
  • I had to make a star outfit a few years ago - it was easy - she wore a white pair of tights and long sleeved t shirt, i got a cardboard box - a huge one, cut out the star shape, got a roll of tin foil and covered the star keeping it in place and neat around the edges with clear cellotape - i covered it both sides for when she turned around - i got some silver ribbon on the market punched two holes so that i could hang the star aroung her neck and two holes in the side so that i could tie it round the back - some silver glitter or tinsel will finish it off if you want to - or you could tie it with silver tinsel - it was quick and easy and she looked the best little star on the stage.
