yes, if your contract allows it (in UK?)0

Yes it is, you should have been told why it has been extended and what you need to do to become permanent.:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0

It would be legal to sack you at any time during your probation, so extending probation should be easier to deal with.my 6 months probation period has been extended for 2 more months: is it legal?
If you know what you have to do to pass probation, then do it. If they are just mucking you about, with no real intention of taking you on permanently, then look for another job.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. A probation period has very little meaning in law.
You have no protection from unlawful dismissal (apart from discrimination etc) during the first year so, in a sense, it hardly matters if the probation period is six or eight or ten months.0 -

That's what I thought too.
When I went for an interview last year I asked about any probationary period and they said that, in reality, something like that doesn't actually exist anymore.0 -

Yep, I'm with this. The whole of your first year is pretty much a probationary period, regardless of what shorter time your employers have told you.
Unless they are simply trying to wriggle out of a pay increase that was offered contingent on satisfactory completion of your probabtionary period, then I would take the extension of the probationary period to mean that you need to improve your performance well before your first year is up.0
