Damon braces v Ceramic braces

According to an orthodontist I was in contact with, Damon braces does not only straighten the teeth but also widen the upper arch. Apparently this improves the smile.
Does anyone know to what extent is this true? Do they really widen the upper arch? More so than ceramic braces?
Would Damon braces potentially give a better result than ceramic braces which do not widen the upper arch?
Thanks for any info!

We can't tell what would be better for you without seeing you. Has this orthodontist actually examined you, given you a treatment plan?
If not look for a good orthodontist, one recommended perhaps by your own dentist. Tell them what bothers you and let them suggest the best way round. Do not "choose" a system and then go looking for someone who will do that. A good orthodontist will have a good armamentarium of skills and methods.
As to what system "widens " the upper arch .. There are many ways to achieve this, normally on children as they hit the pubertal growth spurt.
Moving teeth is a complicated business you should be discussing with someone who can actually see you.0
