Given your various aches and pains :) I'd say go with a crosstrainer. It's the lowest impact cardio you can do.

I would imagine rowing wouldn't be great for back pain and I can tell you it's definitely not great for knee pain...

We have a rower and a crosstrainer (both off eBay.) Despite the crosstrainer being a big fancy one, I really don't get on with it. I prefer the rower as it burns more calories and you can do it sitting down. :)

I'm tall but I've never had any aches or pains from using it.

You probably can't do it at home, but how about swimming? It is a great way to exercise and has pretty much zero impact on joints.

a crosstrainer will offer you low-impact exercise and will get your heart rate up...given your issues, it's what I'd recommend. When I use it, I tend to have my mp3 player going so I can listen to music to help motivate me :).

I would suggest a mini trampoline or rebounder. These are low impact and a very efficient form of exercise 10 mins bouncing equivalent to 30 mins jogging. Also cheap - I bought mine for 3.00 at a car boot.

    Hi there

I'm overweight and have recently lost 19 lbs. I've a gammy knee and am rubbish at running, etc. Someone told me about the powerplate so I tried it for this past week. I get a bit of a sweat going, it's definitely NOT cardio, but I have found it completely amazing.

I'm not daft and I don't fall for all the hype of things. I know fine well to lose weight one needs to eat less and exercise more, it's that simple but this machine has completely impressed me.

Don't want to get too graphic but I had a very lumpy rear end and, although it's not smooth now I can see a marked improvement. I've been doing it for 10 mins each day this week and oh my God!!

I took my measurements before I started (wish I'd thought to take a picture of behind too:o just to prove it to myself if nothing else) and I can see I've lost a wee bit.

The only problem is, they're awfully dear but you might get a trial somewhere for quite cheap.

    Good luck
