Chicken and pineapple?

I've been rooting around my fridge to see what I can put in my slow cooker tomorrow when I leave for work.
I have
chicken drumsticks
bacon lardons
peppers
onions
fresh pineapple
Do you think that it would be a nice combo or a disaster?
I could add a tin of tomatoes or some campbell's soup (mushroom or chicken).

Hi ab,
Your ingredients are shouting sweet and sour at me. I would add some vinegar, soy sauce and sugar to what you already have. Whatever you do, it won't be a disaster.
There's an older thread on making sweet and sour sauce that might interest you: Sweet and Sour Sauce

I used to do a dish called "Chicken Marie Rose" which was basically skinned chicken breasts and pineapple (tinned if preferred). You placed the chicken in an ovenproof dish. Put 2 oz softened butter in a basin and then added 1 level tbsp plain flour, 2 level tbsp tomato ketchup, 2 tsp mustard, seasoning, 1 level tbsp worcester sauce, 1 level tbsp vinegar and half the chopped pineapple. Spread this mixture over chicken and sprinkle with remaining chopped pineapple. Cover with foil and put in fridge to marinate. Bake at 190for about 1 hour, without foil. at end of cooking, thicken sauce with a little cornflour if required. Always went down a treat and I was asked the recipe many times. (Maybe not the prettiest looking dish though!) Wonder if it could be adapted for slow cooker - probably too late for you now, but maybe next time!0

I would simply make a coq-au-vin type dish with everything except the pineapple. But then serve caramelised pineapple slices for dessert
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
