I am so upset and annoyed. On Friday 17th November, I went into my A & L branch to apply for a further loan on my mortgage of £20000. Did all the rigmarole on the computer, the mortgage advisor said there would be no probs getting the money, would take 5 - 10 days. I said once my builder had got quote to me, I would drop the forms in.
I dropped the forms in on Tuesday 21st, and was told the mortgage advisor wasn't around, she would get him to call me.
Wednesday I went in, again they would get him to call.
Thursday went in. Finally he calls me at 2pm, to say he hadn't given me all the necessary forms, and there was another I needed to get signed. (Signing means overnight because husband's at work).
So he hadn't sent any of the forms off until Friday 24th, when I took the last ones in.
Tuesday I went into branch. Head Office hadn't received forms.
Today, they still haven't received forms. Branch are asking me to sign forms again, which means again they won't get them back until Friday.
I'm furious and panicing because my builder needs paying soon (he finishes work end of next week.)
Please will someone tell me what I can do to get some money quick. I've asked for a higher overdraft at my bank (Halifax) but they have yet to make a decision.
I can get by with £10k.
Anyone???

Obtaining secured finance with another lender can take just as long wherever you go, despite the marketing promises. In fact using another lender would generaly take longer as the legal process is more involved than using your existing mortgagor.
For quick finance you cant beat an unsecured option. Egg were doing 0% cards and giving instant decisions - maybe worth alook. Watch out for early settlement fees.0 -
I doubt the 0% for Egg applies to cash advances though
I am suprised that they take this long. i have done further advances for lender I work for and completed same day - do a lot of underwriting self in branch. Suppose A&L are different.
Could they not of faxed the forms to head pffice0 -
Apparently Head Office won't accept photocopies. I'm going to try doing it direct tomorrow, but don't know how far that'll get me. Grrrr!0
-
what do you mean direct? - going in branch again?0
-
Nah! Cut out the branch and phone Head Office.0
-
sounds like you need to get through to a mortgage centre0

How do you think the poor mortgage and insurance broker feels?
He has to deal with these r
ds every day, believe me it can be depressing. Frankly I am at a loss to know how the public deal with these institutions when they ring direct. Perhaps those out there who feel the broker gets their money easy might think again.I am an Independent Financial Adviser with 26 years experience.0 -
Aren't bridging loans only for moving house?0
