Things to do to pass the lunch hour

I need to think of things to do in my lunch hour that do not involve spending money.
Generally I will go to the shops for a wander and get a couple of bits and bobs that we need - the problem is that this is causing an over-spend (well, to be honest, money spent on stuff we really could do without just in order to occupy me during my lunch hour).
I would be grateful for any ideas or tips - I do like to get out of the office for the hour.
Thanks in advance.

See if you can get hold of a cheap or free pedometer and set yourself a target number of steps each lunchtime.
If you find just walking a bit dull, then if you've got an mp3 player get yourself some free audiobooks or podcasts to listen to.
You could also see if you have a local litter picking group, some of them do quick lunchtime meets, try the Litteraction website to see if there's one near you.0 -
Any parks near work? Public Libraries, art galleries, concerts or museums for rainy days or just to do your personal e-mail? I used to fit quite a bit of family history research into a lunch-hour.
There are local running and walking groups in some areas. Otherwise check out the tourism office for any local history walks? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
In the good weather a good book for reading in the park or any ourdoor location would be my number one!
As poster above has said check out what's on locally that's free (librabies, art exhibitions, fairs, museums etc) for the bad weather.0
