  • Thank you. I have been making payments of £80 and £90 pounds each to Apex for the two outstanding debts with them, both of which they have bought from Egg. I am dreading the constant phone calls and harrassment all starting again when I start to make low payments. nearly sent me over the edge last time and I reallly thought I had it all under control and have been making regular payments to everyone.
Thank you for all the advice.

There are templates you can send to stop the phone calls, tell them you will only communicate in writing. it does take some of the stress out of dealing with them - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

Do not use your Mum's savings to pay your debts. She may need it herself.

  • I pay Apex £5 a month on a £7k as part of my DMP.

I have it on good authority they paid 11% of the balance to the original creditor so if they wouldn't accept 25% (Over double what they paid for it) F&F from me I would continue paying £5 a month and let inflation get the debt down for me instead. Robbing Bar Stewards.

I found Apex very good to deal with. I settled a debt with them for 32%, a huge saving. They rejected my first offer of 25%, so I wrote again offering a higher amount and they accepted. Try writing again.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Sorry just my 2 cents...do not take your mums money, she is widowed and worked hard for her money. You should take responsibility for your own debt! She didn't help run them up...YOU did.

  • Oh Charlie please don't use your Mums money that was extremely kind of her to offer and at least she knows you have money worries, that itself is helpful ,a problem shared is a problem halved.I would listen to the op and pay ONLY what you can afford and if you do get harassed by your creditors write to them there is a good template letter on this site, and if you answer the phone to them you are quite within your rights to ask them to take your number off their system, and contact only in writing.

It will seem like starting over again but this time it's different you can come on to this site and ask questions ,have a rant, or if you just want a wee bit reassurance that your doing the right thing.
Your not alone in your money situation ,we're all in the same boat and even if it is just a £1 you're paying, you're still paying your debts and not burying your head in the sand. Take care xx:)
