I got a call from a recruitment consultant today who'd seen my CV on Monster and had a job that matched all my skills but wasin banking so I explained about the br and she said she'd check it out for me as I was ideal for the role.
She came back with a big fat no.
I can't see a way out of this situation.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

Hi
I've just had an email to say that whilst I passed my telephone interview I failed my credit check.
I'm so mad right now, it wasn't a regulated role, wasn't handling cash and I now have ZERO debt!
I don't know how I'm meant to move forward with my life. I apply for other jobs who don't take me seriously because i only have banking experience and yet banks won't take me on.
We desperately need to save up yet can't.
I seriously cannot win at the moment.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

Try ringing the HR department to discuss it, you never know. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I am afraid this is the downside of bankruptcy. The process is easy but the implications after can cause huge disappointments and regret.
Hopefully something will fall into place for you soon.0 -
agrees with Ineedaname...Try calling their HR department and like Roger said use your B/R knowledge!! I would call them and also write a lovely letter to their HR Department, cost of a call and a stamp?? Good luck and try not to get so upset - I do know how you feel but something will come along soon. Chin up!

Hi
Just thought I'd update on what's happened.
As per Worcsmans advise I wrote a letter to the Banks HR Dept a while ago and this week got a reply from them saying that as my debt had been cleared I could go ahead and apply for a position. My dh opened the letter from them and came running in as if we had won the lottery or something but it genuinly was good news for us.
Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be as easy as this! I rang the recruitment line and spoke with a lovely lady who said that as the letter wasn't signed off by someone in particular (it was just signed by HR Team) they would need to check it out but that they had never heard of this happening and she was the recruitment team manager! I now have to wait a week to see what's happening.
I was very honest with her and she seemed very genuine and understanding but I still don't know where I stand!!
Arghhhhh!
On a different note I went for a job recently (non banking but very low paid!) and the interviewer rang me back to say that I had scored highest at the assessment day so I thought wow I've got it, only to be told that they were assessing how many people they were taking on and would call me back within 1-2 weeks. Surely if I scored highest then I would be taken on regardless?
The whole job hunting thing is harder than I have ever known.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

Thanks ever so much for the update and I'm sorry things aren't quite working out for you yet. Keep plugging away and hopefully you'll have some fantastic news for us soon. Good luck. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

i know how you feel!!!
i work for a bank and use to have a customer facing role (over the phone anyway) soon i i went BR i went in the next day and told them may manager said ok i will let hr know so once that happed i started to worry!!!
i stayed on the phone doing my job for about 3/4 weeks then one day my manager told me i could not be on the phone any more!!!! and i had to "bum" around the office on special off the phone stuff helping the manager!!!
got a letter from them telling me i was on the highest disciplinary that it could be!!! at this point i was worrying as i thought i might get sacked!
well after bumming around the office doing nothing i had my disciplinary hearing!!!! i was so glad i had my union rep there as they ripped the bank apart!! and basically told them that this meet was totally over the top and if the try and sack my the union would take them to court and do them for unfair dismissal!!
Now i am in a non customer facing role in and i love it
i know this dont really help you but just wanted you to know you can work for a bank if you have been BR
All the best and hope every thing goes good for you0 -
I second the above completely, I am still employed by a bank, cash handling and customer facing despite BR... it is possible.... although I am resigning later this month...BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
