Mortgage payment date query

hi there

We finally exchanged contracts last Friday and are due to complete this Friday.

i understand from other people that you can choose your preferred payment date for your mortgage to come out on - we don't recall the lender (Halifax) or our broker asking what date we want to pay on. When do we get the option is it normally after completion?

Congrats!

Halifax will write to you 3-4 days after completion. You can then call them on receipt of this letter and amend payment dates to fit in with your cashflow

Hi there,

If you don't choose a date to begin with it will be automatically be set to the 1st of the month as that benefits you the most.
You won't be able to change the date of your first payment but the subsequent one you can change to suit your needs. You can call the Halifax when you get your letter or the day after your mortgage starts
