Make razor blades last longer

Advice requested from any boffins. I've been looking at this gadget which claims to extend the life of razor blades.

Now as far as I can see, all this does is dry the blade and coat it with oil - which you could easily do yourself for next to nothing.
If I dry my blade after use then soak in vegetable oil in an airtight box, will this work in much the same way?
With Mach 3 blades at a pound each, it's worth investigating.

Don't know about the oil but my husband always dries his razor blades after use & it seems to help. He just uses the towel though, not a gadget?Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Good point Shawz but according to the link in the OP, it's not shaving that wears out blades, but simple corrosion...I'd like to have a beard but a. it would be ginger b. women don't seem to like it much and c. I'd have to fart around with trimming the edges etc.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
