Offered a job at a lesser salary than advertised

My partner has applied for the post of Restaurant Manager at a well known hotel chain. The position was advertised at £22,000-£25,000.
She has been through 3 interviews, and at one point she was told that they were considering pulling the position of Restaurant Manager and hiring her as assistant Operations Manager as an alternative.
In the end they've gone full circle and decided to offer the the poistion of Restaurant Manager - but offered her a salary of just £17,500 to take it.
I just wondered if anybody knew what the best thing to do is. The job means a lot to her, but the additional responsibilities (from her current job) and pressure that will be on her make it seem a bit crazy to accept at a salary that is drastically lower than the advertised rate.*
*We have a copy of the original JD and salary details.

Why not ask if they could increase it to reflect the duties0

I think tbh that is too big a drop to consider taking.
If they can't offer the base rate as advertised I personally would walk away.0 -
I agree, too big a drop and they seem quite flighty, swapping and changing. Not the way I would expect a large chain to be operating. I think she needs to be strong and tell them she wants the advertised rate and ask why the drop. Employers everywhere try it on, even the good ones! But this is taking the mickey.0

It's straight forward bait and switch.0

Have they explained why they have offered such a reduced salary compared to the description?
Is it that they feel she is not quite experience enough? that she will need additional training?
I would go back to them and ask them to explain and ask them to reconsider the salary. She could talk to them about what figure she would be prepared to take it on (£20k?,£21k?) or she could talk to them about whether they would increase the salary after say a 6months probation (although if they say they will get it set out in detail in writing not some vague 'your salary will be reviewed after 6months'.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
As she is already in a job, I would suggest that she does ask for an explanation and for the offer to be revised in line with the advertised salary range. But as cgk1 says, it looks like bait and switch, so I think she would be making a mistake working for them unless she got a salary in line with the original advertisment. If she does not get this, my vote is that she should forget them.... I would go back to them and ask them to explain and ask them to reconsider the salary.
