Making an offer !!!

Options
Hello, we are looking to put an offer in on a repossession today and we are seeing a mortgage broker tomorrow. Just wondering, what will we need e.g will we need a recent bank statement, passport, how many payslips, proof of contract?

Also we have 9,000 deposit and other 3,000 being given to my girlfriend by her grandparents which is going into the bank today, if it is in her bank will the mortgage company want to know where it came from etc?

Thank for help

I'm not an expert, but we had some money given by OH's parents and both the building society and our solicitor required a letter from them stating that it was a gift and they have no interest in the property.

If my recent experience is anything to go by absolutely. They will want to know exactly where the deposit money came from (for money laundering purposes) and receive assurances that any money given by friends/relatives is a gift and not a loan.

I have just bought my property recently and my inlaws helped towards the deposit. HSBC required them to sign a declaration, witnessed by independent legal professional, to say that they were solvent, that it was an outright gift and that they had no interest in the property. We were also required to take out Insolvency Insurance (your solicitor organises) for £170.
