    Hi :)

They are playing a nasty game and putting pressure on you to pay the costs rather than face the BR court which can be expensive.

I am sorry but I am not an expert on fighting this sort of thing is.

But if you would like my opinion.

They know you have the money and will pay.

They want the most in expenses from you.

Your choice is do you pay it as full and finall or argue it.

If I was you and they want that amount of expenses I would from what info you have given prepare a case with dates copies of emails, replies etc. i would consider a judge would look at it fairly from what you have told us. The worst would be you would have to pay the court fees and thiers.

A Gamble im affraid. but in your position I would go for it at court.

I wish you the very best. :)

If you do this though, i would have in your wallet the full amount including all costs, incase the judge does not agree with you, so you could pay on the day, if you do get made bankrupt it will be massivly more expensive, you cant afford to let that happen

hmmmm thats interesting, not heard of them pushing so hard for bankruptcy before, as i said above make sure you have the money to pay on the day if the judge does not agree with you and evidence that you were willing to pay. Another idea might be to send them the money for the original debt with strict instructions that it is the debt not the costs that you are paying, send this before the hearing redorded delivery (in any case you are going to be paying this amount whatever the outcome) and that at least shows the judge on the day some good faith and that you are simply arguing about the unreasonable costs not the actual debt

Totally agree with Debtinfo on this one. But send the money Registered Post as that is the only guaranteed delivery service Royal Mail offer and you don't want this going missing at the last moment.

They may just decide to drop the case once they have the repayment from you, keep hoping. But at least you have proof you tried to negotiate with them prior to their action and that they ignored you and continued regardless, the judge won't appreciate them doing that. For that reason I think you have a good chance of avoiding the costs.

Wonder if it might be an idea to put in your covering letter with the money, the dates you sent your letters and copies too? Just to highlight to the company that you did try and were ignored.

Ooh, even safer than Registered Mail as long as you remember to put the reference number on the transfer! Go for it.
