    hi originalmiscelany

the oh i a saver not a spender but is taking some incouragement to part with some of his savings to make some overpayments. he likes to have an emergency fund. we both have the 3 months wages put aside but have a bit extra as well. i have talked him into putting £500 each into the mortgage over the next couple of months (we can only over pay by £450 a month) from our savings aswell as anyother money we can get together.
i will keep working on him to part with some more but i think it will take seeing what difference it makes to get him really motivated.
    wish me luck.
i wish we had been overpaying from the start too as we were both working full time then and had alot of extra cash a month. since having the little one i only work part time so our situation is alot differnet now.

Your OH might get on board a bit more if you start showing him how the OPs are decreasing the daily interest. If he's a saver by nature the difference between what he's earning on his savings and what you're paying on the mortgage will probably make him really think about where he's putting his money!

Of course, if his savings are earning him over 4.79% tax free, they are probably best where they are for the moment.

When i first started my MFW journey last June my DH mocked my intentions a little whereas i think now he is more focused on becoming MF. At least your OH is a saver tho so he's halfway there!
