Quick Credit Score - Charging me since 2009!

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me, My bank called me a few days ago regarding suspicious activity on my account whilst investigating this activity online i noticed strange goings on on my credit card a company called Quick Credit Score has been charging me 17.95 a month for as long as my online accounts let me look back, so i gave them a quick call this afternoon and got the following information:


Charging me:

Since September 2009 - 14.95 a month
Sep 2010 to Mar 2011 - 17.95 a month
Coming to a grand total of £290.10

I instantley cancled the account.

Short story anyway as i don't really monitor my credit card I only noticed this activity recently on the phone i got the person to admit that this account had never been activated nor had it had any activity on it, they offered me 6 months refund on the spot or i could write to the complaints department, they said i gave them my information voluntarily to which i said i did not as any credit scoring i do is through Equifax.

What do you think my chances are of getting my money back? My bank are willing to help out if Quick Credit Score are unwilling to settle.

you took out a monthly subsciption with them, all these on line credit check companies do it, the first month is usually free then its a rolling monthly contract.

As i said in my previous messege, i have an account with equifax I have never heard of Quick Credit Score before, and i certianley havent given them my details well not to my knoladge anyway, i dont know how they have my details.

I know im probibly part to blame because i dont watch over my finances like a hawk and as so havent noticed there charges but i wouldnt pay another company to do what equifax already do for me that would be compleatley illogical!

Ok, so if you're alleging fraud, your best bet is to contact your credit card provider that that the payments were taken from and tell them. They're going to query why its taken you so long to notify them, so be honest, and say you dont read the statements.

Also, ask Quick Credit Score for proof that you agreed and subscribed to their services.

Following receipt of an email from the above company telling me my subscription was going up,I queried how I came to be on their database ,to be told I had been a customer since April 2010 ! It transpired that I had taken up a "free 10 day offer" to search my credit score, I didm"t realise that there would be a charge if I didm"t cancel after the said period. I asked the person what i was getting for the monthly fee (£23.95 ) he said"you can check your credit file any time "I told him I could do that 10x with eqifax for the same money " my question which he didm"t answer was "why would i want to do that " Beware of this setup, something is not right.
