Resignation letter template?

Hello,

So i've made the decision that i'm going to resign from my job. Over the last six months it has got worse and worse and I just don't want to do it anymore. I've not got a job to go to, however have saved enough so can last for six months if I don't get something soon. I am just back from a weeks holiday and am going to say that i've had time to think about it and want to spend some time with my family. I don't think that there's much point in me saying that I hate my job as it is a company that doesn't really care about that sort of thing.

Anyway, i've been searching for a resignation letter template, but most of them seem to be related to getting a new job. Can anyone suggest some words for me, or point me in the direction of a good site to look at.

As ever, thank you for your help.

    Just say something like:

    Dear xxxx,

Please accept this as my written resignation with effect from the date of this letter. I understand that my last working day will be xxxx.

Thank you for the opportunities and experience that I have gained under your employment.

    Yours sincerely,

Here is a copy of my letter, I handed my notice in last week to be a full time mum, with no job to go to.

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation as the (job title)____ at __(company)____

Although this has been a very difficult decision to make, I have come to the conclusion that I need to be at home more for the sake of my children. I hereby give (30 days) written notice to terminate my employment.

I have enjoyed working at _(company)_____ immensely and am thankful for the opportunities you have given me during my time here. I owe a great deal to the company and wish you all the best in the future.

Wishing you all the best :D

Thank you both, Beasygirl, I might just pinch most of your wording if you don't mind.

It is a tough decision to make, but i'm working 50 hours a week with a two year old that I don't see enough of.

Put as little in as possible, although if you feel like it , I always tend to wish them well...

Pinch away! I know exactly where you're coming from I have 2 DD's aged 5 and 6.I quit because I wanted to be around for them more. They grow up so quickly, the time we have with them is precious.

I hope it's the right choice for you, I cannot wait my last day is the 28th April. :j

One thing I always do before resigning (not that I've had to for a while!) is work out how much leave I think I'm entitled to. Then I tell them, and say how I'd like it, eg either something like "I believe I am entitled to X days holiday, and I would like to take these within my notice period. My last working day would therefore be y date / I would like to be paid for these with my final salary."

They may not allow you to take leave in your notice period, or they may require you to do so, but either way you've opened the negotiations while you're still there, rather than after you've had a payment that seems low along with your P45.
