Carpet & Fitting

Hi,
I am in need of new carpets, well throughout the house, but am doing one room at a time due to lack of funds!
My living room is about 4m x 3m and want to know where the best place would be to get the carpet and also get it fitted? I am based in Leeds so though maybe a stall in Leeds market or would going to somewhere like Carpet Right be just as cost effective?
Would people suggest getting laminate or vinyl as instead of carpet?

If you goto Carpetright avoid getting the extras, door bars underlay and gripper rods from there they charge an absolute fortune for them.Look on ebay to get the extras can be around 80% cheaper than carpetright0

Underlay and grippers i would but from and one of the specialist carpet online shops (choose from many by googling 'underlay'. I worked out i could have got enough gripper rods to do the whole house for the amount i paid for one room, and the underlay was half the price online.
As for the carpet itself i used and independant warehouse type shop, bought a remnent and got them to fit it (£35 fitting, done and dusted in 20 minutes.)0 -
There's a thread that was started on MSE's forums a couple of years ago that you might find helpful:
