Bailliff advice please - not my debt

Ok... I have been reading every page possible on the internet and totally confused.
I have lived in my home for 11 years, this year I moved my new boyfriend in.. I have since had a bailliff here for my boyfriend and his ex partner, my BF has phoned them to arrange to pay half the debt (as he came here with absolutely nothing - his ex has the house, car and contents) the bailliff has refused payments unless the whole amount is paid within 4 weeks. (impossible with 3 children and I am now out of work) as of today the bailliff has now stated that they will pay "me" a visit to take a list of "my" contents and any proof I have they are mine. How on earth can I get out of this?? I have been here so long and half my things I dont have receipts for??? My BF has re-phoned the council who will say we must deal with the bailliff...

What sort of debt is this?
And no - he cannot take your stuff for his debt - this can be sorted.
The starting point is however that he must not let the bailiff in the house. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
