Please can anybody give me some help..... is there a gap in the market for personalised favour boxes/bags????
I use MSE forum regularly and know the feedback/advice I receive is always a good gauge of opinion.
I've made favour boxes for family and friends in the past and really, REALLY enjoy doing it. I would love to make some money off doing something I enjoy. I've sat down and done a costing spreadsheet (and yes initially the return isnt phenomenal, something that would hopefully grow) I've designed posters which I've dotted around my local village and I am trying to get involved in my local county fair (small but its a start).
I've tried researching wedding forums for the answer to my question, I dont want to throw myself in to something that is a complete waste of time..... for around the £1.25 for 75 boxes mark, would anyone like a wedding/birthday/christening/christmas that is unique???
I string beads around boxes/bags to have names and words, i do many colours and can even create a specific design if asked.....
Is there a Market?????

Hi,
This sounds good, I would buy if I needed them :T
I think it's a good idea to start off small at fairs etc..see how it goes.
People are always interested in something different.
After all, their unqiue aren't they?0 -
I don't know if this will be of any help but I recently did my first wedding fayre (i make cakes) . Aside from the fact there were not many genuine potential customers , there was a lady who made invites , cupcake wrappers, favour boxes , name cards etc. she made them all herself and some of them were beautiful but no-one seemed to be even considering buying them. . A lot of people are trying to save money on their wedding , and favours are one of the first casualties , as they seem to either not bother or make them themselves.
Maybe take a look at etsy , folksy , and ebay and see what other selling channels are open to you without too much initial outlay.

for around the £1.25 for 75 boxes mark
I'm Sorry I need to clarify... it would be £1.25 PER box if 75 were ordered..... But each box would be meeting specific requirements.
My boxes would be like the ready made boxes on confetti.com, the lid is removable enabling buyers to put their own goods/sweets etc inside, all pre decorated boxes I've found you are not able to do this. For a little extra I can fill theboxes with tulle and love hearts/chocolate hearts etc.
I was thinking about opening a facebook page, but I have always steered well clear? Do people really look for goods on facebook??0 -
Moonpixiewitch, did the lady have a website or a facebook page for customers to visit, was she a 'people person'?? Was she putting her product out there really selling it?? I know I probably sound daft, but I think about this everyday, all day, wondering what it is i need to do to get myself out there, I would like to think if I marketed my product strongly I could almost hope to be a success.
I've been thinking about giving away boxes as a 'token', or when people sign up receive additional info about my boxes....
Vistaprint do a free website service or additional extras for a monthly fee, I keep asking if it's worth doing that?? Or is facebook the way to go?0 -

1.25 seems alot of a box just over 93 for 75. How much dose it cost you to make them? From what i have heard its the cost x3(labour,materials and things like lightinge ect). How big are the boxes-i couldnt see them on the website(under wedding or parties) If you filled them up aswell, i would possibly pay 1.25. Now days people want to save, they can go to hobby craft and other shops and buy ready made boxes and things to go in them. Youll need to stand out to get people to pay that, and offering diffrent colours isnt really going to make you stand out. How about offering photo boxes, instead of paper use printed photos on paper?I would pay for that and people will lkeep it.
Dont mean to be harsh, but im thinking what i would pay for...which others may pay more... GOOD LUCK!0 -
P.S-Some companys offer your first print free ,there is a link on the main website about printing. so you could print all the photos, for only 1.00 p/p (sometimes more) even if you pay per photo (5p) it will cost 3.750
