Nationwide Credit Scoring

  • Hi there,

my girlfriend and I have recently just had our mortgage application approved from Nationwide. They processed it very quickly (within about 10 working days) and that was including a delay when they had to contact my gf's employer for a reference (she is currently working a 6 month probationary period).

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the kind words - fingers crossed! :)

Got my boss to write me a reference in lieu of a P60, so hopefully that should suffice. I will just send them all the documentation we have!

Jamie, Nationwides score is enhanced where the applicant DOES state they have a pension (this is never checked).

The 10 day delay is a worry. I never ever delay cases, I always submit on the day I see the client. I used to be regional manager and was forever uncovering this problem. Essentially a proportion of brokers do not have the requisite sense of urgency which leads to poor service outcomes for clients.

What if Nationwide take 2 weeks to say no (they are a very slow provider and Ive known them take 3 months)? Id have a plan B in place right now if I were the broker.

Other 95% options without higher lending fees are C & G, IF, Standard Life Bank, Northern Rock, Egg and The One Account.

Thanks Conrad. I'll change the form back to say we are paying into a pension scheme.

Our broker said the delay was purely with Nationwide, as they were taking a long time to do credit checks.

If it falls through, I think we will just go with Lloyds - Im hoping we would still pass their credit score at 95% seeing as we passed it at 90%, but I understand that this isn't a certainty.

EDIT: Would it be worthwhile us re-applying to LLoyds (C&G) just now as well?

On balance I would probably re - apply so as to have a ready to go plan B.
There is a dnager ones score can reduce if too many scores are undertaken but I have no emperical evidence this is the case - just rumour.

Thanks for the advice. I have instructed our MB to re-apply to Lloyds (C&G). Shall see what he says - I would certainly feel safer with a "safety net" in place!
