Tax self assessment

Hi,

I used to have income coming from a few sources so the HMRC were asking me to do the tax self asssessment online. I'm now employed by one employer and have a pay slip with all my information on. Can I stop this 'self assessment' process now rather than having to do it every year!!!

Thanks

  • Any idea what I can do here?

    Thanks
  • There is a field for the date that you stop 'trading' on the return, which you should fill in for the final year in which you were earning from self employment. Unless and until you inform HMRC that you are no longer self employed, they will expect you to submit the self assessment each year and charge you penalties if you don't.

I would fill in the date, and send a letter too, just to be certain that HMRC get the message.
