Drop the price far enough and you will get tenants, unless the place really is a dog.

    Hi Folks

Once again, many thanks for your replies.

I think the general opinion is for me to find a good letting agent.

My next question would be - How do I find a GOOD letting agent? They all say they are the best in the town/region!

Anyway, after I have found some tenants, how do you suggest I deal with the maintenance and upkeep of the property? The reason being I am totslly hopeless at DIY - a bit like Frankl Spencer from Some Mothers Do Have 'Em !!!!!

I was thinking of giving that responsibility to the letting agent. If I do that, would it cost me a lot of money? Would it take away a large proportion of the rental income?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

It's easy peasy. You don't need any skills or even common sense to build or repair things. Just remember, if you're left handed, you need to go looking for a left handed screw driver.

you haven't researched this at all have you ...

The OP did. Read some of his posting MSE history. "Investing in property help?"

Tell you what though, bang (sorry I mean "invest") all your savings into BTL property whilst on other threads asking whether it's sensible to "work for free" for an employer in these recessionary times with an eye to getting full employment in the future. Rents you can charge, and ultimately property values are sort of connected to that wouldn't you think, with others experiencing similar problems in the jobs market.
  • If I was a prospective tenant and you came across as having zilch knowledge of being a responsible Landlord Im afraid you would not see me again.

You should be grateful that you havent got some clued up tenant who would see you for what you are and take complete advantage of the situation and belive me there are serial trouble makers out there who could turn your dreams into nightmares.

Dont even attempt to do this untill you have at least joined and researched properly how to become a competant landlord on landlord zone.
