Second job declaring tax???

I have a full time job which i pay tax on. I have just started doing some evening work and my new employer wants to pay me by cheque on a monthly basis. (I am not on her pay role yet) How do i go about paying tax on this? I dont want to get into trouble by not declaring it? appreciate anybodies help on this x

If you are to be the employee of this person who is paying you for the evening work, then it is for them to deduct tax (and any NI due). What you received would be nett of tax and therefore you won't need to declare it.
You only have to arrange to pay tax direct to HMRC if you are self-employed.

Unless you are put through the books as an employee, you'll have to set aside enough money for tax and repay it the following year (through self-assessment).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

As previous posters have said, you need to clarify whether you are actually an employee (in which case your employer should be deducting tax and NI prior to paying you, and giving you a payslip to show the deductions) or being engaged as as a freelance (self-employed) person, in which case you need to register as such with HMRC.0

There is no way that the HMRC will agree you can be self-employed in a role like that.0
