Help/Advice needed

Ok so I am in a small amount of debt, I had to leave my job in February to take care of my dad as he was seriuosly ill and then my boyfriend hasn't really had much work from the agency he is with as there just isn't any work, we have sold sold sold on ebay and managed to get by the past few months but I haven't been able to pay my extortionate mobile phone bill of £45 a month, I don't know what I was thinking when I took it out apart from that I could afford it at the time, I am only 19 but live with my boyfriend and have done since I was 17.

I have lot's of support from my family but don't want to worry them but I now owe £167 to Vodafone and my contract doesn't end until july 2012!!! which means all together it's around £600.

There is no way I can go back to work at this moment and my boyfriend is doing everything he can to find a new job.

We are claiming benefits, and I really don't like this I prefer to work but my dad comes first.

I was also self employed before and got paid upfront for a job I was intending to finish, that I am now unable to do and they have been very patient but I now need to find £400 to pay them back. It's getting to the point now where I can't sleep at night(hence the time) and I have been reading this foum alot and cut back in eveyway imaginable, my groceries are £50 pcm for both of us and we have cut back on EVERYTHING.

I just need some advice really on what I should do? I anyone could help I would appeciate it so much.

Please note I have posted this with a new username as some of my amily come on here and know my user aalthough I am a regular MSE poster.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much

suggest you talk to vodaphone about dropping to a minimum tariff and explain you are now on benefits and can't pay the debt at the rate they want...you could ask them to stop the service, would that mean that you wouldn't have to continue getting more in debt?

ref your bf. suggest he signs up for more agencies, then he has the best chance of finding temp work. What is he qualified in? Could he go back to night school (or could you) to get more qualifications to make you more employable?

Ref the £400 you owe is there no way you can finish off the work? If not then I think you may need to bite the bullet and explain the situation to family and ask them for a loan

Hi Y&D, I don't know the rules but could you get a carers benefit for looking after your dad? Someone more knowledgeable than me on the subject will probably post soon. Chev is right (she's very wise) - talk to Vodaphone. Perhaps explain that this is hopefully a short term situation so that they realise it's in their interest to keep you with them on minimum tariff for now so that you'll return as a higher spending customer in the future?

Hugs for you, and hope your dad gets better soon.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
