What happened to my bread!?

I've just baked a loaf in the oven, using the same recipe I always use.
But this time it's risen still, but sort of split down the middle of the top f the loaf. Kind of hard to explain, but it has resulted in the loaf being extremely top heavy and not very attractive!
Still tasty though!
Any ideas as to why this mightve happened?

I think that it can mean that:
-the oven was too hot or
-the loaf was placed on too high a shelf.
Hopefully someone else will come along who is more knowledgable.0 -
It could possibly be to do with the way that you 'folded' the dough just prior to putting it in the tin. As you shape it you need to make sure that it is 'tight' without any obvious folds.
Hope this helps.

Check out my first ever attempt ...

I think it was how you folded it as well! If you look up a few vids on youtube or video jug on how people fold free form bread then you can get a better idea. Took me a while to get a hang of

That's similar to how mine turned out. Yea I reckon the folding issue is probably right, I did see a fold in the dough when I was putting it in the tin. Oopsy.0
