Got caught up in the bomb scare today. Had been working flat out down south all week, so thought I'd treat myself to a relaxing first class train back to belshaft again. Any way, long story short, it turned into a 3 leg journey on uncomfortable trains and busses, even had to nurse a big suitcase on my knee at one point.
I understand the difficulties they faced, and am grateful to just get home, but should I be expecting the difference in standard and first to be refunded? Do translink have a policy either-way for this?

I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!

I don't know, but friends in Newry are talking about a very loud bang they have all just heard.
Maybe you are lucky to have got home safe and sound all be it with some discomfort. I am just hoping and praying that everyone in Newry is OK tonight!
But you could always phone translink in the morning - it is worth a try!DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
Ooh I am near Newry and didn't hear a bang! I heard the court house go up that time... so would expect to anything else that blows up. I hope nobody was hurt if there was something.0

translink offer a refund if you are delayed more than 30 minutes"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

I got stuck on a train for three hours when it broke down right on the border, Translink ignored any correspondance I sent them so I gave up.
As for the suspect vehicle in Newry, it contained a bomb after all http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-13023315Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
Yeah, it's a tricky one. I'm not expecting anythng for the delay or inconvenience, I just want to have paid a fair price for the service I got.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

I didn't know Translink did first class ?
As others have said, it was well beyond their control so I don't think it would be really fair to harass them for a few quid refund because you had to go cattle class with the rest of the plebs
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
Lol, if I could afford to view it as "cattle class with the plebs", I'd be too busy counting my money to complain! Alas it was a little treat after a tough week's workI'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

not sure whether Translink are the ones to complain to. I would complain to the PSNI, obviously they were either scared or ill equipped to do their job right in Newry in the first place. If we were living in any other country but N.Ireland the bomb threat would have been dealt with, snippers dealt with and booby traps dealt with much quicker......this is the way we live in N.Ireland, too much security and politicians start calling it 'heavyhandedness'.....too little security and politicians are calling for more troops on the street.
Its the way things are here in N.I., the rest of us just have to get on with life and make the most of it....Peace0
