Thanks, OP. I managed to order 2 lots of orchids and 2 potatoes last night. Just a word for those who've ordered the orchids - I've got some of these and they are not easy to grow (and I grow a lot of orchids)- you need to give them lots and lots of TLC. It's very important to plant them with the point up. You can;t use ordinary potting compost - they're naturally a bog plant that likes an acid environment. I use aa mix of sphagnum moss, perlite and orchid compost. You need to keep them watered - I only use rainwater that I collect. When they sprout be very careful to balance the water - they rot very easily but also die easily if not watered often.

I have a suspicion that they're being sold off because of the difficulty in growing them. They're a beautiful plant but a lot smaller than most will expect - last year mine were only about 4" high when flowering. I lifted and stored the bulbs over winter as fellow growers said that this was the best way to ensure they survived. Good luck and happy growing!

Thank you, I ordered a tree peony. Can't afford to spend lots on plants at the moment so this is a great find!
£1 or less - entry to Woburn Safari Park, pair of cargo shorts, men's desert boots, £5 book token, tree peony, 2 x tights, National trust entry (50p for 2) *1 night at Hoxton Hotel* :D + numerous freebies. Thanks MSE :T
  • Thanks OP. I've ordered a lot of different items (Tree Peony 'Dai Jin' (Striped Beauty) £0.99x2 £1.98, Potato 'Blue Danube' £1.00, Begonia semperflorens 'Organdy' Mixed F1 £3.99, Begonia semperflorens 'Lotto' Mixed £3.99) from the specials link you provided, total cost £10.96, free del and have a £10 voucher from the last T&M grabbit, so for .96p that is a lovely surprise for my Dad (hope he appreciates the extra work in the garden he is going to have to do now!). Thanks again.

Peonies arrived for me, MIL and dad today. Orchids to follow. Bought some for dad last year and he had no trouble growing in his sunroom.
