JSA claim eligibility

Does anyone know? I finished maternity leave in January and decided to not return to my job as it was an hours commute away and my hours had been cut so much that it was not financially viable with petrol costs rising so much. I started a temp job and my contract with this job ended on the 31st of March.
Am I able to claim JSA whilst I'm looking for a new position even though it's only been 3 months since I voluntarily left a job?
Thanks

If you leave a job you do not have to wait any time before you claim, however where somebody has left a job voluntarily it would go to a Decision Maker who would decide whether JSA was immediately payable or whether they would have to wait for a period of time before receiving JSA. It would depend on the customer showing 'just cause' for leaving.
In your case, you would be coming to JSA from a job which was temporary; I don't think your previous job would having a bearing on your JSA claim. I may be corrected on that one of course.0 -

Sorry, correcting you again milfield, but the claim would be processed normally while the question of leaving voluntarily without good cause would be sent to the DM; they don't wait for the decision first. Also, if the job is temporary, then any sanction would not be longer than the job would have lasted anyway.
But you are right about claiming straight away though.0
