hi i posted on here before regarding capquest contacting me for a debt thats at least 7 years old and that i cant remember having to be honest but may well of done.i wrote the letter as advised on the forum informing them of statute barred etc and could they show proof the debt was mine. They have written again maybe a month later with a 'letter of claim under the practice direction- Pre action conduct' saying i have not responded to their letters and the account has been passed to their solicitors to commence legal action on the 20th april. Also at the bottom of the letter they have provided details of national debtline and cab almost like their trying to help me. Please help i really dont know what to do about this letter now.:(

Ignore it. They are trying to scare you into paying in the hope that you don't know your rights.
if you're sure it's over 6 years since you paid anything or acknowledged it then relax0 -
Or if you feel you really want to reply, then there is a letter in this link.

There are no "Solicitors"...it'll be an internal department that use a different header on their letters. All designed to scare you into paying.
Like I say, if you're sure it's been over 6 years since you made payment or acknowledged it in writing then you have nothing to worry about.0 -
im sure that i have never even acknowedged debt at all once i stopped paying 9 years ago. They manage to scare you though with the ridiculous letters they send out i will forward them the letter that fermi put in the link and see what happens next.:A0

That is the whole point of them.
If the debt is statute barred, then CrapQuest know full well that it is.
The only faint chance they have of squeezing some money out of people is by empty threats that they know they can't back up.
You will notice that the letter threatens complaints to various bodies. If CrapQuest don't get lost, then make those complaints.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I've recently received one of these letters from Crap Quest for a debt well over six years old - it was sent to an address that I haven't lived at for over six years - they even said that they had carried out all relevant checks, if they had then they would easily have been able to find my current address. Take the advice of the good people here and ignore the scammers.0
