Do you know if it is to provide photo ID - if so perhaps try your drivers licence, or if it's for eligibility to work here, then perhaps your birth certificate (some people don't have a passport so I assume they would accept something else in it's place anyway).

they usually send a big list of acceptable documents, isn't there a list with your invitation letter?

no? In the email "Please bring with you proof of your eligibility to work in the UK. You must provide original documents, not copies. Details of the documents you are required to provide are listed on the enclosed sheet. If you do not have eligibility to work in the UK, please bring your passport with you. We shall take a copy of your documents and hold these should we offer and you accept an offer of employment. All other copies will be securely disposed of."

But...the attached forms are just the job description and a form for travel expenses :|
  • Most of the agencies have a list of documents that they are accepting as long as you present two valid Id's just like diver's licence, professional ids, birth certificate etc if you fail to present you passport.

If you were born in the Uk then a Full British Birth Certificate plus proof of NI number will be fine.

A Driving License is not acceptable.

    Check the lists of documents.

Right...just found my deed poll letter...

xxxx of xxxx road now or lately known as xxx a British Citizen under section 1 (1) of the British Nationality Act.... < would that do? Along with my P60 + Driver's licence?
  • If it's your Right to Work and you're a UK Citizen - only passport (even if it's expired) or full birth certificate (listing as least one of your parents) is proof.

Do you mean a change of name document? No that's not on the list of acceptable documents.

Basically, if you were born in the Uk you are stuck with Passport or BC and NI combo. You will need to provide your change of name document in addition to these things.

You can get a copy of your BC from the registary office for less than £10. If you are still local you may even be able to collect it by hand if you call them and explain. You must get the full version which shows your parents names, not the short (cheaper) version, which is not acceptable.
