Garlik (and searches)

I've just got the first part of my Garlik report. It says that I have no searches in the last 12 months which isn't so good (apparently). In the last 12 months I've had a Mint card and a Virgin card as well as got credit on catalogues. Wouldn't they have searched?

I wanna have 5 stars!! *pout*

Also, thought this was interesting:

"There are lots of myths about the problems caused by having several credit application searches recorded on your credit file. Certainly, many searches within an hour or two can indicate a possible fraud, and dozens in a month can indicate financial desperation, but up to about 12 searches on file in a year is perfectly normal and is expected. Very low levels of searches can tell lenders that you are not very credit active, so they may not be so willing to lend to you."

Garlik uses Callcredit for their credit search which doesnt seem to have as much info as the larger groups Experian and Equifax...

Thanks, that would explain it. I'm waiting to hear back from Experian so will see what their report says.

Is the credit score the same with everyone? What's the highest?

With garlik I've got 4 stars and 897 points....I want 5 stars too LOL

(oh and no credit searches, which I know is wrong because I applied for a top up egg loan 7 months ago)

I got 5 stars but apparently have no searches either. Have taken out two 0% credit cards this year so know that is not true. Gave me a score of 905 but has vanished my OH as apparently he does not live with me!

Remember these numbers are no more than a very rough guide and are not used by lenders, who have their own individual criteria.

Darn, you're beating me! I've got 846. I live in a student area so that's the only other thing that's not perfect.

Apparently I have a slightly higher than normal credit accounts....even though at least half of them have 0 balance and are showing as terminated/closed

It's all going to go downhill soon anyway

A Tom188 says...these numbers are worthless. You can have a score of 999 and still be refused credit by some providers. Each lender will score you differently. I'm awaiting my Equifax and Experian reports.....just interested to see what they have got for me and to check there are no untrue items on there

Zero searches on my Garlik/CallCredit report - just got my Experian report and there are 6 on there.

A really weird thing is that 3 of the searches are by Camelot - I registered once on the National Lottery site (through pigsback/greasy palm or similar) but I didn't buy any tickets. What's this all about?
