Called the three main companies who do credit reports and they all said the best way to check is by emailing the issuers themselves and asking them if they have done so since it has been over 6 years.

Now i know there was a website that listed the correct addresses to send this stuff to for each company but I don't have it now.

The three companies in questions are:
Style financial services (dropped off feb 11)
Halifax (June 11)
Three (mobile phone) (April 11)

The addys I have are

Style CRA ENQUIRIES CREDIT CARD OPERATIONS CENTRE PO BOX 6050 SOUTHEND ON SEA SS99 1WL

Style Financial Services PO Box 5747 SOUTHEND ON SEA Essex SS1 9AJ

Three
THE APPEALS OFFICER, CREDIT REFERRALS, THREE, 123, ST VINCENT STREET, GLASGOW, G2 5EA

Halifax
UNDERWRITING (LEEDS), FLOOR 6 PHASE 3, LOVELL PARK ROAD, LEEDS, LS1 1NS

Anyone know what site that is or of they are correct addys?

Thanks

Hi - sorry I'm a bit confused about what you want to do? or why you want to contact the creditors?
Have you looked at your credit files from one or more of the Credit ref agencies?
And do the defaults appear on there? if the first one has dropped off then no further action is required. The later ones presumably still show - were the defaults correctly registered?

I have all three credit files and I have spoke with two of them on the phone.

They have said that to have a default wiped from my credit file after six years (which it has been over six years now) they need to be contacted by the company to do so.

The credit ref agencies will not remove it themselves even if it is over six years.

So I am trying to contact the original issuers of the defaults to enquire/encourage them to ask the credit ref agencies to get rid of them as it has been over six years now.

To do that I need the right addresses to send my letter too. And I seen on this forum a government website which gave you the corrct address for such things.

I need that website, or confirmation the addresses I pasted in the OP are valid for what I am trying to do.

Defaulted accounts are removed automatically 6years after the default date.

    As per experian's FAQs here
How long will credit account information remain on my report?

Defaulted and settled accounts are kept on our records for six years from the date of default or settlement. After this time they are automatically removed.

If you did want to write to the creditors then this list here contains a list of address for the data controller of organisations, or as Fermi has put in that post you can search on the ICO website here for the most up to date addresses - http://www.ico.gov.uk/ESDWebPages/search.asp

Defaults drop off automatically, you don't have to contact anyone.

I assumed they were removed also, so I am now confused as to why they have said on the phone I have to contact the actual companies to do so.

There is no mixup about the 6 years, it has been well over that.

You don't contact anyone, they just drop off after 6 years.

Whoever told you that you need to contact all of the companies individually after 6 years is talking shizzle.

If they are defaults then they will definitely go automatically as soon as they are six years old. A copy of your credit report will confirm this.

What happens if it should have dropped off and it hasn't? I mean does it literally drop off that exact day six years on?
