So, I'm guessing I see how it goes for a month or two then register as self employed if I earn enough to live on. Then, at the end of the first year I complete a taz return? So I'll know exactly how much I've earned?

So I should just save money throughout the year?

Thanks x) I'll check the site!

thats the only way to know how much work you could get, i guess during the summer months you might find you could have alot of work to do eg weddings etc,

Thanks so much for all the help!

Especailly the buisness link and HRMC courses, I have investigated and will sign up. I'll also ask next time I sign on about the help the job center provides.

I wish they could explain things when it comes to paying tax as simply as you guys can. xD

I'd love to check out the rest of the forum. You all seem lovely and very helpful.

Heh, I was thinking about that when deciding what type of photography to persue. I never was into weddings, myself, so I might not like them! But it's finding that out for yourself, I suppose. To each their own, and to some people their wedding is the most cherished day of their life!

I could never imagine doing something like planning though! So hard!

No. You need to register as S/E within 3 months of starting trading. As soon as you take a single penny in payment, you HAVE to register regardless or not of whether you actually made a profit out of that penny.

As to knowing how many clients you'll get from one month to another, quite simply you can't. You can only do market research and hazard a guess.

iPanda..because you are in your 20's you are able to approach The Prince's Trust for help and I think you can receive mentoring from them too.
