And I assume this is only for council tenants? How many are council tenants now, it's only housing associations around here.

Purch - I meant to put that as well but my brain was not quite working properly but the sentiment is the same, just because someone lives in social housing does not mean they are lazy or stupid...as my ex husband used to say "!!!!!! happens"

indeed. using the benefit system to full advantage actually requires quite a bit of ingenuity and effort.

if these scum bags want to redecorate, i suggest they get a job and buy what they need. alternatively, they can save there generous benefits instead of drinking and smoking.

this country makes me want to vomit.

the working people live in tatty dumps as they pay more and more tax to pay for the benefit brigade to live like kings.

they should have the choice of "live where we put you" or "fu*k off". the council should maintain it to the lowest level possible that is fit for human habitation ie no damp or mould etc. but that is it. you want luxury, paint, carpet, PAY FOR IT you money grabbing scum filth.

actually a lot of people in council housing do have jobs. sometimes quite well paid ones. e.g. bob crow on 145k a year. wonder how he'll use his 1k diy allowance? oh the ridiculous reality of lifetime council tenancies.....

hateful filth. a real socialist. makes me sick. and we have to decorate that piece of low life scum's house. sickening.
  • YOU don't have to decorate anyone's house. I'm sure Mr Crow is perfectly able to employ competent tradesmen. THis scheme is aimed at repairs, not redecoration.

And social housing tenants shall continue to do just that. This is about discharging the housing providers repairing obligation.

No, it's aimed at looking after your home and taking pride in your home.

It can be used for redecoration, if the landlord allows, that is.

Not specifically in that link, no.

    But it does say:
With maintenance and repair costing £4billion a year, the move could see a bonanza for small businesses - local painters, plumbers or carpenters - as more of the money is spent locally.
  • Not specifically in that link, no.

    But it does say:

Well, I did go straight to the horses mouth.

I would expect (as would a social housing provider) a workman to make good at the end of the job. (But I notice the local carpet fitters don't get a mention).
  • From what I've read it is something that has been "suggested" rather than a "will be implemented". Is that correct?
