Health assessment for new job

I had to fill in a questionnaire about my health for my new job and send it back to HR.

On it I detailed that I had a back condition (which causes no problems and was discharged for ten years ago), I had previously suffered from panic attacks (but had not done for over 4 years) and that I suffer from migraines.

I've been told today that occupational health would like to carry out an assessment once I start work. This has made me really worried.

I don't know the ins and outs of the DDA but am I right to think that my job offer cannot be withdrawn because of the information I have provided? Would this assessment just be so that they can make reasonable adjustments (i don't think they will need to make any to be honest).

I'm feeling quite worried now.

Thanks.

If they are old conditions which you have not suffered from for a long time I think you have nothing to worry about. I've had two Occ Health assessments when starting jobs, and in both cases it consisted of 10 minutes spent filling in a short questionnaire with a nurse. If you have had no recurrence for 4 years, you have nothing to fear. The employer is most likely just covering their backside, or it may be a standard thing that they send every new employee for this assessment.

Occupational health are the norm. Companies need to know they are discriminating at all to people. For example, if you have chronic back pain, they must supply a decent chair for you, decent time to stand up and go for breaks etc. Otherwise, they are in trouble.

Just go for it and relax.
