Car Insurance Installments With Bad Credit?

My renewal has just landed and they want an extra £20pm off of me despite nothing changing and no claims being made
What I would normally do is say 'kiss my ar*e' and move my business BUT now I have entered a DMP with Payplan I've noticed that most insurance company installments are a credit agreement requiring a credit check which I will, of course, fail miserably.
I don't have the cash to pay the whole amount so I feel my only option is to stay with my current insurer as my direct debit is already in action so won't have a credit check to pass.
What do you guys with bad credit do?
Thanks,
Andy

I have bad credit and have paid monthly for the last 3 years, with 3 different companies without a problem. I think it may be to do with them being able to cancel the cover if you don't pay so they don't lose out
Hope that helpsSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
I have bad credit and have never had an issue getting insurance.0

I don't think they care as it's low risk, miss a month and they can just cancel your cover. Not like you have to much upfront like a loan for example.0

Okey doke, that makes me feel better. Can you guys let me know which companies you've used? It's just the cheapest quote (First Direct) seemed very specific about the credit side of things.

I've been with Direct Line for years.0

Thanks, unfortunately it's them that's hiked up my premium.0 -
I am a discharged BR and have not had a problem with dd payments, they have checked my credit file so are aware. Insurance in general has increased due to the claims by others from the ice and snow in the past 2 years
Sorry but they want their cake and eat it! try shopping around and see how you get on I did, after all if your credit rating is shot you can't do anymore damage
If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0 -

Everyone's premiums are going up. We'll all be paying more in the future thanks to ininsured scumbags and fraudsters making false claims.
My OH is due for renewal and Tesco hiked hers up by £100, so she called Aviva, Direct Line and did a comparison. Most quotes were within £10 of each other rgardless of the insurer.0 -
Also check the total payable with interest. They vary pretty hugely between companies, some are over 35% apr which makes a joke of any lower initial premium when compared to a 15%.0

Im with esure by the way, got accepted with 5 defaults on file, very cheap to start but theres a fee for anything you need to change. They just seem very nontransparent.0
