E-ON inform me of DCA involvement

Hello, I'm pretty new to all this debt talk and after an hour searching on the forums I couldn't find any answers, so here's a brand new post.
I'm currently in debt on my Energy account with E-ON and they've written to inform me that if it's not paid in full by the 4th April 2011, they will instruct their Debt Collection Agency, Buchanan Clark and Wells, to collect the outstanding balance on their behalf.
What does this mean exactly? Am I going to have bailiffs turn up at my door and raid my flat?
The debt has been ongoing for over a year now and over that time I have made one off payments, whenever I could afford to but it's never cleared it. During this time, there's been many attempts for E-ON to fit a Meter Reader for the Electricity, where it would make paying off the debt much easier.
The same thing was done by E-ON for the GAS, the meter was fitted ok and the debt was paid off in this way.
Unfortunately, E-ON's two attempts of fitting an Electric Meter caused problems because of safety issues which they say I have to get sorted for them to fit a meter in. As I am a Council Tenant, I informed the council and it took six months of persistence for them to come and look at it.
Eventually they did what they felt was needed to be done, but unfortunately E-ON came out and said it still wasn't satisfactory and they can't put a meter in.
So, it's just been left, with me paying money onto the E-ON Electric account, whenever I can afford but it's never enough to clear the debt.
Any advice on this situation would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Hi
Having a DCA involved won't mean that bailiffs come to your door, the only people who could come (and its unlikely) would be door stop collection agents - and they have no rights and cannot enter your property or take any goods.
What will probably happen is that BCW will right to you telling you the balance that needs to be paid and threatening that they may take legal action etc. How much do you owe for the debt on the moment? and how much can you afford to repay a month towards your arrears? and are you also paying each month for your current usage?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
