What does this credit file alert mean?

So I got an email this morning from Credit Expert (I currently pay for the access as I want to know when my finances get sorted - really must cancel it soon though!) saying there had been a search on my file. Every other time I've known what it was for but this one says:

'Change in the payment history of your account with Santander Current Account'.

Apparently this may mean: 'that you have fallen behind on repayments for an account or that you’ve paid off arrears.'

But I'm quite confused as the account has only been open a couple of months (switched to get the £100 and 5% AER rewards). There have been no arrears, it's not been over any agreed limit, but I did cancel an overdraft which was set up when the account was opened. Could this be the reason for the alert?

Anyone know what this could be? It just sounded quite negative and I don't want another mark on my report after I've been working so hard to clear the previous ones! The file also says the info is up-to-date till 13/3, but I got the alert this morning. Very confused!

I'd call Santander but I've been grossly unimpressed since I've switched so don't want the pain of speaking to thier useless customer service dept to correct it unless I need to!

Any help/info much appreciated.

So you've checked your file online, and can find nothing that would have caused this alert?

Santander have apparently been having problems with their computer systems that report info to Experian etc. There's been at least 1 or 2 others cases mentioned where things have been added wrongly and then taken off again, but not before an alert was sent to the owner of the file.

Nope, nothing should have caused that. I haven't gone into any arrears (I used a fraction of the arranged overdraft which I set up incase DDs came out before my salary went in (they did) but I was never even close to the limit, let alone over it. And the OD is cancelled now, anyway. I've kept my balance pretty healthy too (to take advantage of the 5% AER).

Just checked again and have seen another alert of the same name from a couple of months ago relating to a Barclays account I have. The OD was near its limit (not over) but I paid it off around the same time as the alert was issued. Very confused as to what's happening! Can't be any kind of ID theft, can it?

Ask Experian what caused the alert.

Anything else is just speculation and guesswork.

Cool, I'll give them a bell. I'll be calling my bank as a last resort!
