Huh, Job centre giving me more money after signing off?

Just checked my bank balance and the Job Centre have paid £266.20 into my account for some reason...

I signed off last week, got my remaining money, then they paid this! I was on Job seekers for 3 months. I'm going to leave the money in the account, but was just wondering if anyone knows why it went in?

It's 5 weeks worth of Job seekers on the under 25 rate (the new rate)

    The job grant is only £100 and I told them the work is only going to last for 2 weeks! Could be a tax rebate, but it would be nice getting a letter saying it is, maybe it's in the post...

    But if it is a tax rebate I'm owed more than that in tax this year by about £100.

    Any benefits count as earnings as far as tax is concerned so that would reduce the amount due.

    I know and I've used my JSA in my calculations. I have a spreadsheet with all my taxible income like earnings/JSA and also a column with non taxible income like Housing Benefit. Then it calculates how much tax I owe/I'm owed. I just need to add another £30 quid to it for my last JSA payment, but that won't bring the amount by much.

  • I had this as well when I signed off a couple of years ago. £1100 paid into my account from DWP!!! And then a few days later I received a letter telling me it was my tax rebate.

    Well as soon as I got paid straight on the spreadsheet! Although had to redo most of it after my laptop was stolen!

    I got a letter saying it's my tax :D So I just need to write to HMRC saying rest of my tax please :)

    Every time I've had a tax rebate it's gone in before they've sent the letter...odd!
