Long time lurker - first time poster.

PunkyGoth. Have you looked into NAET therapy (stands for Namburipad's Allergen Elimination Technique). There are quite a few around the London area. I've had first hand experience of this as my daughter had a milk intolerance (she used to come out in a very itchy rash). Since the treatment, she's been fine drinking milk. If you want further info, you can pm me or if enough people are interested, I'll post a more thorough explanation.

I would have said avoid readymade stuff!
I work and have 3 kids but still find the time to cook everything from scratch. The health and financial incentive to do so is enough;)
Sainsburys stocks a very nice gluten free flour - makes fantastic cakes:)

My son 2 yrs old, has Coeliac disease (Gluten Intollerance) and there are plenty of sites that do free samples...

Glutafin,Juvela & Dietary specials are good ones.

How about joining Coeliac UK? Have you had a Biopsy to confirm that you are intollerant to Gluten?

This Gluten Free message board is good too.... http://members2.boardhost.com/glutenfree/

You should be able to get the prescriptions from the doctors - you can buy a yearly 'pass' I think which will work out cheaper.

Do you see a dietician? They should be able to point you in the right direction.

I hope you manage to find something soon.

In defence of ASDA my local one is easliy as good as our local Tesco and better than Sainsbury's (why they decided to spread their range around the store I'll never understand, it was much better before).
  • Thanks for your help. I am seeing a Dietician soon hopefully, so that should really help. I will follow up on everyones suggestions.
I have not yet had a biopsy to confirm the gluten allergy as I know you have to be eating gluten for at least six weeks prior to the biopsy. The problem with this is that when I eat gluten it aggravates my ME to such an extent that I cannot work, so it becomes a viscious circle!!

Also worth noting is that one of the biscuit makers (TrueFrom off the top of my head???) usually adds maltodextrin to their products and that really knocks the stuffing out of me - kills my energy levels.
  • Thanks for that I will keep an eye out for maltodextrin
