    Sorry for the confusion-
Let me clarify: my friend is the one who had the £1000 rise from £16,000 to £17,000.
I earn just over £20,000 (£1675 per month gross) and i wanted to know what difference the new NI changes will make to my take home pay (no pension or student loan payments)?

You may want to check your numbers, as 1675*12 = £20100 p.a.

    Hello.

    From http://www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/
    Earnings Summary Monthly
    Gross Pay £1,675.00
    Tax Free Allowances £622.92
    Total Taxable £1,052.08

    Total Deductions £339.14
    Net Earnings £1,335.86

Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place
