Better Salary or Job Happiness?`

I have just accepted a job offer for a role that is paying 7k less than my last position but is a great opportunity to progress - I hope!!

Happiness!

It's taken me 5-6 years to get from a minimum wage job to one that pays a decent wage (£25k). Guess what? I like the £25k job even less!

I'm now thinking about retraining as an electrician or something practical that will actually let me do something (as opposed to swapping emails) and it'll probably pay even less than I started out on.

Wish I'd done it years ago though, the stress doesn't seem to go away and if you're not happy at a job after multiple years, you're not suddenly going to be.

Agree wholeheartedly, happiness every time. Was in a job that I loved, we grew bigger & bigger and then it started to go downhill. Took over another company whose staff were gross overpaid and they did an awful lot less work than us. Then the day came that we were taken over and once that happened we knew that redundancy was looming - best thing that has ever happened. I ended up in a job earning £5k less than I had been earning BUT, for the first time in my life I am working 35pw and if I really pushed it, I could do it in less. However, as far as everyone is concerned, I am the bees knees, consequently I now, 4 years on, am back to my old salary, am now debt free and no stress!
