I found this on HUKD and am sure lots of you know about it already...
But I have been PUTTING OFF getting a discount bus pass because of the pricey photo machines
This way you get it for FREE ; http://www.epassportphoto.com/
I cannot say they are definitely suitable for PASSPORT photo's as I know they are VERY strict on photo's but for other passes etc it will save heaps!
All you need is a printer , white background and camera...
AND you can often send off for FREE samples of photo paper OR this set of 2 samples is just 1p delivered! ; http://www.thedarkroom.co.uk/products_class.php?productID=SSG or http://www.thedarkroom.co.uk/products_class.php?productID=SSS
I just got the 2 sheet sample and am SO relieved at last to be getting my bus pass ID done which will save me SO much money but I felt those photo booths were a right rip off!
Enjoy!!

WOW ... I will look that up but haven't heard of my council doing it - Got a form for the pass from the Post Office AGES ago and they told me to come back with 2 passport photo's to go in the pass
I of course assumed I had to pay for one of those machines!
( Am with Lambeth Council by the way )..0 -
http://idphoto4you.com/ another good site for giving you "passport" photos.0

Just to confirm - I used www.ePassportphoto.com for my passport photos last month and some from the same batch for my driving licence photocard renewal and both were accepted with no problems.
In order to avoid potential problems I saved the file onto a memory stick and took it to a photo printing machine in Boots to get the best quality - can't remember exact price, but less than £1 for a single photo containing 7 passport size pictures that you can snip off.
Also remember when taking the photo to have a neutral expression (no smiles), take any glasses (and head-coverings) off and make sure hair is not covering your face. Take plenty to choose the best one.
For babies, lay them down on a white background (cushion, blanket).
When going through the process on the website, make sure you click on the less obvious link to download the free file, rather than the more obvious option to pay for them to print, check and send it.0 -
Excellent - I know alot of people succesfully use them for their passports but read stories of them being denied too , so didn't want to be held liable
lol
My 1p photo paper has been dispatched so am sure it will be fine for me to print myself as its only for a bus pass!0 -
Wish this had been posted last week as we paid out £5 for a sheet from machine at Victoria station. They were useless as my husband had not adjusted the seat properly but worse he looked like a frightened rabbit in your headlights!!
Have now used this site and printed off and delighted with the pictures.
Will keep both the sites mentioned on here for future reference.
Thanks to both posters.0 -
I got 8 free samples of quality photo paper from Paper Spectrum - Just wanted to see if it arrived before I posted on here - Arrived quickly and very well packaged!
''We are confident you will be very happy with our products, but if you would like to make sure this is the right paper for you please contact our sales office at sales@paperspectrum.co.uk to request your free samples''
I simply e-mailed them and asked them for a sample of their photo paper and frankly its much better than the 1p one!!0
