edited 5 April 2011 at 12:54AM in It's gone, but was it any good?
This is the first time I have done a deal on here so I am really sorry if I have done this wrong.

I have been buying from Consumable City (www. consumablecity . co . uk) for a while now and have just recieved an email from them with a few deals that they are doing for April

The one that I was interested in was 4 compatible Kodak Number 10XL ink cartridges for £16.49 including delivery (although Hubby has a HP printer that takes the 21 & 22 and he said the deal they are doing there for £9.99 for two HP 21 compatibles is also good as well as the 100ml bottles which he uses to refill sometimes).

I have bought a few from other places before (used to always get them from ebay) but these guys always send out 1st Class post so is normally here next day and although they state they have the same amount of ink as the ones I have bought on ebay they lasted ALOT longer.

I normally pay by paypal but it says on there site that you can also pay by debit and credit card.

They had a load of offers on their emails about photo paper, bottled ink and other cartridges so it might be worth having a look even if you don't have a Kodak printer and then posting a deal if you think it is any good

According to their website it says that

Suitable for use with all printers that accept the Kodak Series 10 inkjet cartridge range including:

•Kodak Easyshare 5100 Printer
•Kodak Easyshare 5300 Printer
•Kodak Easyshare 5500 Printer
•Kodak ESP-5 All-In-One Printer
•Kodak ESP-3 All-In-One Printer
•Kodak ESP-7 All-In-One Printer
•Kodak ESP-9 All-In-One Printer
•Kodak ESP 3250 Printer
•Kodak ESP 5250 Printer
•Kodak ESP 7250 Printer
•Kodak ESP Office 6150 Printer
•Kodak EasyShare 5000 Printer
•Kodak EasyShare 5200 Printer
•Kodak ESP 5210 Printer
•Kodak ESP 9250 Printer

The prices do seem good but then compatible cartridges are usually cheap everywhere. Depends whether you want to go down the compatible route (which admitedly is MSE) or keep to the printer manufacturer's cartridges. A lot of printer's say that your warranty will be affected if you don't use genuine cartridges (which, unfortunately are often 3 times the price!)

Yes they say that your warranty MAY be effected but the truth is this is just said to scare you into buying their ink. They can only void the warranty if they can PROVE that using compatible ink is what damaged your printer. I'd say good luck proving that you used compatible ink in the first place (don't admit to it let them prove it!) let alone whether or not it damaged your printer.

from personal experience with an esp7 kodak printer, i was sold fake kodak cartridges as real ones from a major high street retailer - it damaged my print head and messed the printer up badly... fortunately, kodak were keen to deal with the people selling fakes, so i sent them the dodgy ones and they sent out replacement ink and print heads ...

from that experience, i would definitely not trust non-kodak ink... the warranty they offer is a good one, and kodak printers do seem to be better value to run than a lot of other brands, so i wouldn't touch these with a bargepole

by the way, why has nobody hit the spam button?

do not wish to offend the op, but it's such a detailed post with so much info about the product and it's their first post, so it does look a bit iffy...

I thought Kodak ink cartridges were cheap anyway, it's the reason I bought an expensive Kodak printer for my daughter.

I don't understand about the spam button bit? Did I post something wrong or in the wrong way? As you said it is my first ever post here and so if I did do something wrong please let me know.

Also sorry to hear that you had problems with Non Kodak inks but I can only go from personal experience and say I have never had any problems from any that I bought from eBay or this company (only difference is the ones from consumable city lasted longer and was cheaper).

Again please let me know what I did wrong so that I don't do the same when I find any other deals anyway

Thats whay I thought as well when I bought one but the standard cartridges are £19.99 for a set (well thats what Argos charged me when I bought them there) and these ones are £16.49 for TWO sets and they have more ink in them

As the poster states you are very detailed in your first post - usuually a sign that it is spam from someone affiliated to the site being pushed. You have also posted in other areas of MSE all relating to ink cartridges, which suggests a higher than average knowledge of replacement ink cartridges. Some of us have been here a while now and know the tell tales signs!!

Sorry if wrong, innocent until proven guilty etc. etc. but the signs are all there!!

So because I gave an example of my own personal buying experience and copied and pasted details from their website so as to help people I must have an ulterior motive and be affiliated with the site? What should I do then to let people know how to save money (which is what I thought this site was for and what I have always used it for) - just give them half of the deal and expect them to do the rest?

Also posting on other threads with advice about what I have had happen to me (assuming you mean the HP thread) is also not allowed now - helping people is bad?! I never even mentioned where I gor the HP cartridges from (which wasn't even the same company I now buy kodaks from) so how was that wrong!

Sorry to go off on a rant as I know all you did was answer the question that I asked ("what did I do wrong?") but it seems crazy to me that I can't give people detailed information or advice about deals that I have found or my experince until I have posted 'X' amount of posts about different subjects.

    Rant over now I promise!
