Hello,
I am posting forr a friend who is in need of some advice.
Last week her OH was fired; The entire team of 6 people who worked on a contract was subject to a meeting earlier in the week in which they were told they may lose a particular contract due to shoddy workmanship earlier in the year, that they would all be having an appraisal and told that there will be job losses as he is sick of being ripped off and so on ....
These teams worked in pairs of two who worked on this task separately in stages, her OH on the first team to do some work, with the two other teams following. Her OH is the only one so far who has been fired. He has been working there for 1 year and 11 months.
This appraisal occured late last week and her OH was told his contract was being terminated - boss feels that the workmanship was poor and spent too much time onsite and fleeced him in terms of overtime - despite not being allowed to work by the main employer. Her OH explained that he had only been on this site once, that the "shoddy workmanship" was more likely related to repairs since etc. The other person on his two-man team won't know his fate until later this week.
The boss has also said he was only on a temporary contract - he has his offer letter and its true that it does state "temporary"
They have given him a weeks wages and said he could work it or not bother and leave.
It seems to unfair - is there any grounds for a claim in an ET?
